Castle in Chałupki

For centuries the palace in Chałupki has been the central building of the border settlement, which was called Chałupki already in the 16th century. The first information about the palace dates back to 1373 and was included in a document issued by the Opole prince Jan for the knight Pasko. At that time, the palace was a typical defensive castle surrounded by a moat, protecting the crossing of the nearby river. The palace then passed into the hands of Margrave George Hohenzollern, who rebuilt the castle because of the Turkish threat.
