Tworkow Forest

A large part of this area (with an area of over 115 hectares) is protected by the Natura 2000 network as a special area of habitat protection called "Forest near Tworkow". The owners noted the need to protect natural water bodies, forests and oxbow lakes, such as oak-hornbeam, riparian and oak-ash forests, which occupy the largest area of protection. There are also numerous interesting bird species such as middle-spotted woodpeckers and green-backed woodpeckers, as well as rare orchids such as the blue-winged warbler and the swallow-tailed warbler. The numerous tree species, including pedunculate oaks, small-leaved lindens and common maples, also contribute to the unique character of this forest. The area attracts tourists, especially as there are valuable cultural monuments in Tworków, such as the Baroque parish church and the ruins of the castle.
