There were several greenhouses in the garden, including one that even grew pineapples. Joseph von Eichendorff, poet and brother of the owner, described in his correspondence romantic walks with his uncle in the park, listening to songs sung by his cousin on the guitar. In 1844, the palace was bought by the Jewish banker from Vienna, Baron Salomon Mayer von Rothschild, and his family made the palace a social venue.
