The Rose Palace with its park in Krzyżanowice

Lichnowski Palace with entrance gate - built by the Lichnowskis, rebuilt in neo-Gothic style, today a mixture of styles. It houses a chapel on the south-east side. In the years 1843-1848 Franz Liszt stayed and worked in the palace. Entrance gate with foundation inscription built in 1853. in the English Neo-Gothic style. In 1964 a Nursing Home was established here, run by the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of St. Francis. Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which is still in operation today.

The palace in Krzyżanowice, located on Kolejowa Street, was built in 1700 by Count Jan Bernard Praschm and sold after his death to Baron Karol Gabriel von Wengerski. In 1775 the estate became the property of the Lichnowski family, who extensively rebuilt the palace in neo-Gothic style in 1856. Today, the building has retained its basic form with three octagonal towers and a tower with a chapel on the south-east side, the interior of which once served as a knights' hall.

For six generations, the palace was owned by the Lichnowsky family, the last of whom, Prince Wilhelm von Lichnowsky, sold the estate in 1930 to the Sisters of the Congregation of Franciscan Sisters, who established a convent with a chapel in the palace. The nursing home run by the sisters cared for the elderly, tuberculosis patients and ran the first kindergarten.

Until 1945, the palace in Krzyżanowice was surrounded by a brick wall that stretched along the park all the way to the railway tracks. Unfortunately, after the war most of the park was subdivided into building plots for local residents, which resulted in the demolition of the wall and the destruction of some of the trees. There were three entrance gates to the palace, two of which were wrought iron. The first gate was located by the railway station, while the second gate, built in 1856 by Prince Karol von Lichnowski, led to what is now Tworkowska Street. The third gate, in turn, was in the wall by the road leading to Roszków. Above the second gate hung a plaque with the duke's name and the year of construction. Due to severe damage to the wall, the gate was closed in 1993, and the entrance to the palace is now located on Wyzwolenia Street.

In 1945, the nuns and their patients had to leave the convent due to the approaching front, and the building was then used by the German and Russian troops as a military hospital and stables. After the war, people who had large farms or ran shops were kept in the palace. The nuns soon returned and carried out renovations. The palace became a convent again and in 1947 the renovated chapel was consecrated. From 1947-64 the convent also served as a nursing home for the elderly, and in 1964 a Nursing Home was established, run by the Congregation of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary of Perpetual Help. Today, the home is still in operation and the sisters care for girls with profound disabilities. In 1988, a residential house for the sisters was completed, which is located adjacent to the palace.

In 2006, the building of the former health centre was converted into a residential home for intellectually disabled girls, which is located near the palace, at 31 Kolejowa Street.

The staff, which includes sisters and lay people, provides a safe living environment for the pupils and support in meeting their health, educational, religious, cultural and social needs.

The Sisters' residential home is located in the vicinity of the palace.

The palace in Krzyżanowice hosted numerous distinguished guests. Franz Liszt stayed there between 1843 and 1848 and composed in the palace hall. In 1986, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the composer's death and 175th anniversary of his birth, a plaque commemorating his stay was unveiled. Ludwig van Beethoven, one of Karol Lichnowski's best friends, visited Krzyżanowice between 1806 and 1811, which was also commemorated with a plaque unveiled in May 1995. Since then, concerts have been held in the monastery chapel every year in May, during which works by both composers are performed.
